happy 4th folks, its a long weekend and I got up early for no reason really other than I don’t like sleeping in when the days bring so much summery promises. not to mention I made granola for the first time in a while last night, and contrary to the popular belief that beans are my favorite food — its actually granola. thats the stuff that makes me jump out of bed at 5 a.m. Not to mention today is big day with my friends here in Nutmeg! a large group of us are riding down to the beach in Old Lyme to take in the party sights, then riding back up here for an olde fashioned tempeh BBQ and hole swim. summer promises!

those are some scenes from the beach last week. was a heat wave, but wow was it nice along the water. I love the riviera. it’s no secret. I do love taking my Atlantis to the Atlantic. this is the end of Long Island sound, so thats Ireland way out there! just a lil swim.

I had a biz trip to Portland a few weeks ago that I kinda begrudged getting ready for — its silly though, I was going to chat about tires with my best friend while getting to ride one of his very nice bikes each day.

case in point. first time on a Richard Sachs believe it or not. impressed, although those tires barely fit. or do they even??

my other loaner bike. Pat’z Alumax. thought about bringing my own bike, but really no reason to other than the feeling of Pat and I rolling down the road on matching RONS.

some Portland pictures for you above. I also had a fruitful design session with one of our bag makers. more to share on that soon! then it was back to Connecticut. my layover was in Dallas, and they kept us on the tarmac for 3 hours! funny enough, former CX national champion and East Lyme native, Jeremy Powers, was sitting right in front of me. we had a good chat before making it home at 3 am.

my cousin Sean is not an oyster farmer. you can get his stuff currently at the Stony Creek Farmers market.

my mom and I took a ride out to meet him a few weeks ago. he found a camera for me.

my canoe was found by the ferry captain way up stream. was stolen in February of 2024 — glad to have my personal ferry boat back! its also a great upper body workout.

took the train from Saybrook to NYC last week for a talk at the Amundsen store in Manhattan. I opted to stroll and not bring the bike. here is my fav photo, although I didn’t take many.

okay lets see here what else …..

some photos of Troy Toye and his nutmeg TEAM CR1, and JP Weigle out for a cruise! a crank that I like, and small chest shipments etc.

maybe a new bag tease here ….

pizza by the swim hole after a hotttt ride. Sundays.

okay I gotta get some bikes ready for the weekend!
