December in pictures

its cold outside, and the “year in sport” is over. I try and not get too wrapped up in chasing miles, as we all know its the quality of those miles that really matter — but I have been dancing with that metric since being grounded here in 2020 — the year I really got into strava — just for fun, but also a little serious. I have found it to be a healthy motivating factor to get out after it when you’d much rather be inside surfing for flite saddles on ebay next to the wood stove.

December has been like that the past few years .. chasing other folks in our ride group, and attempting to prove to myself, and many times succeeding, that I still have what it takes to be the leading bicycle sensualist in Connecticut. please click through the galleries of the past month on the bike folks!

December saw some great rides — it’s a low key really good month for riding around southern New England. we got a few dustings of snow, but nothing that kept you off the trails really.

even a few days where shorts were nearly appropriate. a nice December day, always a good excuse to get some of the weakest sun of the year on your thirsty legs.

pedaled a lot of miles with Joe this year — but strava says that Josh Deeter is my number one ride buddy. he does live a mile away. but poor ol’ Deetz broke his elbow getting doored in NYC late October, so he finished the year virtually.

good days to be on the trails when the wind is whipping outside. I say this a lot — if its too cold to ride, likely its not if you can find some trails that get the heart rate up without the speed of windchill. having to walk sections also warms up the toes.

Connecticut Xtreme!!!

December also say my Atlantis come back to life! nice to have the extra time during the Hollidays to work on projects that have been simmering for a few years.

and then there was the xmas eve annual ride. great crew, great cousin route. nice to spend these special times with family out worshipping the dirt together!

60 miles, 45 of them dirt. our furthest east was only 5 miles from Little Italy in New Haven! pizza next time.

that ride was so good we decided to do it again for new years eve. Brendan was visiting from Durango, and we really tried our best to make him jealous.

okay thats it for now! happy 2025 to us!

So lovely. I have a hard time believing a house would ever be that red but I’ll try my best!

Excellent example of cycling reportage here Ron! Your photography skills are on display too, nice job. If there isn’t an award for Most Sensual Biker, then I propose it become a thing. Not that I am in the running, but I think its important.
