Wow did we ever have the best weather ever this year! I will say it again as I have said hundreds of times, there is no place like home when it comes to bikes, solid crews, and weather combined like this!

I announced this ride only about 10 days prior, so thanks for showing up on short notice everyone! and thanks for those Land Trust donations.

lucky us with this weather, we got to do the 50ish mile loop to the beach and back. there was a roadie friendly route, and an ATB route that made for a chunky return on the Goodwin trail. but at 10:30ish we all rolled out together from the Hadlyme Ferry Landing.

there is no perfect bike for this kinda ride, but I do feel like I was on what was the closest. its a real quest to figure that out in my experience. life long quests.

some cool bikes in the mix for sure as expected at any nut butter event. cool people.

so fun to ride and hang with these folks. many have come out to this event all 5 years and beyond. always nice to catch up in settings like this!

beach time lived up to our picnicking dreams. we had rocky neck all to ourselves, and even though we were not supposed to be one the grass with our bikes, the ranger came up and said “this is too cool to kick you guys out”. wow, we even had the law on our side this magical spring day! lol.

and then it was 7 miles of country pavement until the roadies and the roughies split ways.

we dug into the Goodwin trail and settled into a nice pace with about 20 of us entering the woods together. little by little the group whittled down, hope those folks made it out okay!

following the 8 mile river watershed is a delight. no beaver bites to report.

and then we were back to the barn for the rons bikes sample sale. a pizza party in the barn followed with plenty of saddle sniffing for these perverts. I had such a good ride and felt super comfortable on the bike all day. these kinds of rides really test your fit and fitness! looking forward to the long rides to come in these coming weeks of long days.
okay thanks for watching!
