kinda the first “press release” of a new tire Patz (above) and I have been working on for about 2 years. As a small company (Patz, Troy, and me), it is fun for us to notice things in the pro grav dad ranks, and follow up with our own testing before getting out the graph paper and pencil. High volume and lightweight are two things we care deeply for, so when we began noticing bigger and bigger tires plumping up in the 700c category on the more creative grav racer bikes, we of course wanted our own — and we also wanted to ad a new tread to our catalogue somewhere between the rosé and cava.

beholdeth the brüt 700×53. This is the race casing with our sticky grey rubber coming in right around 600g. It’s pretty wild how fast they feel, even on pavement. I know that is a popular marketing tire thing to say, but thats what Patz and I feel when riding em.

I dusted off the ol’ fuji XT4 and took Patz out for some glam near where we were van camping together in our mobile office. Have not shot action like Patz in a long time, so it was pretty fun for me to try and remember some old tricks.

Patz is such a pro, he makes it easy on me, even whilst nursing a recent hip injury. hobbling into place and yelling “go!”

the low tread is very predictable on the hard pack single track, as well as the dirt roads. the high volume allows for some low pressures — 20-25psi pictured — so any lumps in the trail are comfortably absorbed while the big footprint plants like a flag on the moon, if there actually was a flag on the moon. what do you think??

ouch that is a hottttttbiiiiiiike! these tires barely fit in Pat’z alumax 1. I suspect they will stretch out a bit over the next few days and decidedly they will notttt fit. thats why the ALUMAX II is redesigned to be a size queen.

we hope to have these tires available to civilians mid to late spring in all casings, including our new “race rozzo”, a protected sidewall version of our race grey tire. We also have our friend and cycling nepo baby, Taylor Phinney, racing the lifetime program on these tires this upcoming season. exciting for us! maybe you?

for now it’s just ol’ Patz racing around on these things until my hip comes back to life. should be any day now. then ill have my new ALUMAX II to show off in the next blog installment.
