a small blog hiatus

I generally throw things at a media wheel of fortune and see what sticks. right now the YouTube is the stickiest thing I have … so my creative time is going to that lately. not saying this is the end of blogging by any means … that was 2015 anyway …. i will post more when I am feeling bloggy

Really enjoy your blog posts, but also understand the need for a break! It’s much cozier here than over on instagram…and honestly I’m trying to avoid that app/site for the month to reset the brain and see what happens. Anyways, just know that you have people that search up this blog probably once a week!:) I love blogs and don’t think they’re dead!…all a matter of definitions I suppose…Happy September!

Oh Uncle Ron, tis a shame you’re having a little break from the blogosphere, I really enjoy reading about your adventures, just means you’ll really need to up your game on the Tube of You.
And while I’m here, RonsBikes caps are too big, Ultradynamico caps are perfect.
    Peace n love

hi Jontea:::: now im tempted to blog more ๐Ÿซฃ ::: I will indeed step up the Tube of You though —- and on the caps — they are made by the same factory, and different batches are kinda slightly different in sizing — but thats only by accident. could be the higher cotton content in the material of the rons ones

love the youtube you’ve been doing. Also fascinated by the apparent versatility of the Ultegra FD-6500 for sub compact crank friction shifting. i live in rivendell country so it’s easy and fun to be happy with rivs but love what you’re doing with the US made aluminum bikes too

hi Hamini ::: thanks! I would say my aluminum US bikes are heavily inspired under the hood by Rivendell country …. well a lot of inspirations there. I feel the need to have my fast aluminum bikes and my chill riv set ups for when I am tires of being aggressive. and as for the FD-6500 — its a solid choice for the wide range double! readily available too. the biggest mistake folks make in the sub compact double thing is using MTB triple front ders. they just never work. cheers!

Hey Ron! Just create a post here for every video on YouTube. Embed the video in the blog posts. That’ll keep it alive and you will have true home for your cyber creations.

I’d be even happier if you also created posts here with the pictures you post on Instagram. No need to write long blog posts. Just copy the text you write on Instagram and create a blog post here for every Instagram post you publish. That means I can see your photos without succumbing to the surveillance capitalists by getting an Instagram account (you mostly have to log into Instagram to see the pictures nowadays).

The indieweb people propose something like what I’m describing with their POSSE principle: https://indieweb.org/POSSE

Own ur cyber presence! Have your cake and eat it too!

I dont use social media, and I have been trying to find a minimalist blog just for myself to share content with my friends and family. A online corner. Do you recommend any indie/shark free place for it?
If has integration and spreads to socials along the lines with what you mentioned even better as far as stops me to use them directly I am fine!

      Cheers in advance!

I have a question for the orthopedic specialist:
I strictly ride Ortho bars on my Romanceur, but lately I’ve been feeling drop curious.
I’ve never rode drops and I don’t think they look as cool as Ortho’s do but all my friends I ride with are on drops. I do like to get radical and do a lot of climbing here in California, I feel like I could benefit from drops. Wondering if I should take the leap or continue to be the black sheep in my pack and hve a cool looking bike.

hello there ::: drops can be fun, and they come in all shapes and sizes — not to mention the variability of stem heights (the ease of adjustment on a quill stem) that allow them to accommodate all types of bike fits. the ortho bar when set up with the grip area sloping downward at a height just lower than the top of the saddle emulates a nice dirt drop — but you can also experiment with a more sporty position with a drop bar by getting it down even lower. maybe thats what your friends ride? if so, you might want to give them a try. for the most part though, I like the orthos as my fav all around bar.

Sounds like a plan.. If I may, and as the sensei of luxury cyclotouring, will you consider doing a video that shows us neophytes how the master packs his bike for an overnighter? Thought you had a chicken of the woods mushroom in your hand there for a minute!
